Whitney Hamilton grew up in New Orleans, LA and Birmingham, AL. She attended Birmingham Southern College earning a BFA in Painting and Pratt Institute as a fine arts MFA candidate. After that she attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and has been a member/actor/board member of several New York-based theater companies. Whitney’s films include the currently filming UNION a Civil War alternative love story, A Rogue in Londinum, premiering at the Lucerne International Film Festival in October 2011 and New Hope, PA Film Fest 2012, winning Honorable Mention for best Art House film and the Independent Spirit Award. My Brother’s War premiered at the Methodfest Film Festival 2005 and was nominated for best low-budget indie and for best actress Whitney Hamilton. It is loosely based on the first part of Firefly, Whitney’s first novel. It has North American distribution. She has directed and or written many short films that went onto festivals around the country. As a writer, Whitney has penned 2 novels, 9 screenplays, and 8 full-length plays, some of which were commissioned and/or produced, while some have won awards. She is also a painter and has several collectors of her work. When she first arrived in New York, she was personal assistant to Barbara Rose and on the staff of The Journal of Art.
